Dyneema or Nylon? Nylon is more absorbent and possibly more forgiving for the less experienced climber while Dyneema is more abrasion resistant with greater strength to weight ratio. Understand that having some slack in the system is bad, will go a long way to making your climbing safer.
This video from DMM helps put it into prespective and using the rope in belay situations adds strength to the system.
